LISTEN: Aaliyah & Tank Join Forces On Their New Collaboration 'Gone'

The late Aaliyah makes a posthumous comeback with R&B singer Tank on their brand-new collaboration, and it's iHeartRadio's latest World Premiere.

On Friday, May 2, Aaliyah's estate and Blackground Records 2.0 released "Gone" featuring the singer and host of the R&B Money podcast. On the record, Tank delivers a powerful intro before he makes way for Baby Girl, who croons about moving on from her former love. Aaliyah's latest posthumous song debuts today as part of the BLK Stream app's official launch. "Gone" is exclusively available on the app, and can be heard on all of iHeartRadio's R&B stations throughout the day.

For long-time fans, Aaliyah and Tank's new collaboration makes sense. The Grammy-nominated singer released all her records through the label founded by her uncle Barry Hankerson and her cousin Jomo Hankerson until she passed away in 2001. Tank served as Aaliyah's background singer in the 1990s and later collaborated with her for "Come Over." Tank signed his first record deal with Blackground in 1998.

"Gone" is Aaliyah's first posthumous single in four years. Her label and estate previously released "Poison" featuring The Weeknd to prepare fans for the singer's final posthumous album Unstoppable. The album was supposed to be released in 2024, however, the label decided to push the release date back to ensure the project is a "meaningful body of work."
