Common and Jennifer Hudson were trying to watch a basketball game in peace when a loose ball almost flew right into Hudson's face.
The superstar couple were seated courtside at the New York Knicks vs. Golden State Warriors at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Tuesday night, March 4. During the second quarter, Knicks guard Miles McBride tried to grab the ball while it bounced out of bounds. The stray ball went into the crowd and nearly injured Hudson. Common attempted to block the ball from hitting her directly and succeeded, but her glasses got knocked off in the process.
Miles McBride immediately apologized to the couple for the shocking moment on the court. They weren't the only celebrities in the building for the game. 50 Cent, Tracy Morgan, actress Alex Daddario, and other stars also watched the Warriors defeat the Knicks in their hometown.
Common and Jennifer Hudson have attended several basketball games together in the past. The couple has been going strong since they got together in 2022. Sparks started to fly between the two artists after they worked together on their movie Breathe, which debuted last year. Common stopped by "The Jennifer Hudson Show" with Pete Rock to promote their Grammy-nominated album The Auditorium, Vol. 1. When he was asked about comments he made about marriage, the Chicago rapper admitted he would marry Hudson.
“Listen, Jennifer is the person, if I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson,” he said.
