SZA says she's down to make a joint album with her good friend Kendrick Lamar.
During an interview on Sherri Shepard's talk show on Wednesday, January 8, the "30 for 30" singer was asked if she would consider cooking up a collaborative album with Lamar. Without hesitation, SZA said she "would love that."
“I think that would be amazing,” she continued. “He’s such a genius, and part of his genius is him being so elusive and so mysterious. I don’t know what’s going on as much as you don’t know what’s going on. When ‘Luther’ came out, I said, okay, that’s the vocals we’re using. And same with ‘Gloria.’"
“I love that… He’s a huge part of my ‘fumbling and finding’ era, because I’m just trusting all of his expertise and being thrust into these moments," she added. "He’s so good at saying yes and staying grounded, so I’m just like, ‘Teach me, Sensei, what you know.'”
SZA and Kendrick Lamar have collaborated on several hit songs together over the past 10 years from their first song together "Babylon" to their most recent hits "Luther," "Gloria" and "30 for 30." They also teamed up on "All The Stars" for the Black Panther soundtrack, which earned four Grammy nods and one Golden Globe nomination. The duo will have plenty of material to perform when they hit the road together for their "Grand National Tour" this spring.
The "Drive" singer also spoke about her upcoming film with Keke Palmer, One of Those Days. Watch what she had to say about starring in Issa Rae's latest film below.
