Ellen DeGeneres' very own words are coming back to bite her.
On Tuesday (August 18), an old tweet from the longtime talk show host, 62, resurfaced, where she joked about making one of her show staff members cry. "I made one of my employees cry like a baby on today’s show," she wrote on June 5, 2009. "Honestly, it felt good."
While DeGeneres' message comes at an unfortunate time, considering her former colleagues have stepped forward to expose the star with claims of a toxic workplace, the post wasn’t meant in a negative context. As per Page Six, the situation was in reference to DeGeneres’ employee Jeannie Klisiewicz, whom the host surprised with a cruise on air. Klisiewicz was hired in 2008 after writing to the talk show and admitting that she wanted to work for the production. After a year on the job, the host reportedly wanted to "do something special for her" because of her attitude and failed attempts at winning any show contests. Years later, the segment was added to EllenTube.
Earlier this week, DeGeneres reportedly conducted a staff meeting, where she addressed the unspoken rule that production is not allowed to contact her. "I don’t know where it started," she said. "Please talk to me. Look me in the eye." Additionally, the show has nixed three top producers from the team: executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman. To replace one of the head honchos, DJ, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, who recently stood up for DeGeneres, has been named co-executive producer.
